Home > Saharan Dust (Air) Layer

Saharan dust is a mixture of sand and dust from the Sahara desert, an area covering a large part of North Afirca. The Saharan Air Layer image - from the CIMSS/UWM - is useful for monitoring Sahara Dust. In some instances, Saharan Dust can also be viewed on the day-time true colour image of the Atlantic. True color daytime, multispectral IR at night
