The Heat Index, also known as the "apparent temperature" or "it feels like..." is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature. In simple terms, it's an index that takes into account both temperature and humidity to approximate how warm the weather feels to the human body. When humidity is high, the body's ability to cool itself through sweating is reduced, making the air temperature feel hotter than it actually is. The Heat Index provides a better indication of the perceived temperature and potential heat-related health risks.
